In a global context of violence and intolerance, the M.I.L.K. Foundation Canada works to eradicate the causes of prejudice that generate conflict within Canada. Through the promotion of basic values such as love, friendship and family, the M.I.L.K. Foundation Canada hopes to achieve a lasting impact on the social attitudes and behaviors of Canadians by encouraging respect for differences, tolerance, acceptance and generosity.

The issues raised by inter-ethnic relations in Canada, the integration of new arrivals, resistance and conflict related to intolerance, the aging of the population, and the weakening of intergenerational solidarity all demonstrate the scope of the challenge we face. To help build a society where people can “live together better,” the M.I.L.K. Foundation Canada believes it's important to take steps designed to change attitudes, beliefs and behavior by inviting Canadians to look critically and constructively at their own love, friendship and family values. The M.I.L.K. Foundation Canada helps foster its cornerstone values by encouraging humanitarian actions.

Goals

The M.I.L.K Foundation Canada embraces a three-prong approach:

  • Action through education
  • Action through the community
  • Action by individuals

A) Education
The M.I.L.K Foundation Canada supports educational programs that deal with family, love and friendship, in the hopes of making Canadians more aware of the family and the social consequences of intolerance, prejudice, stereotypes, insults and exclusion based on being a member of a group or minority, age, sexual orientation or ethnic origin.

Action

  1. To encourage Canadians to become more aware of the true values of family, love, friendship and solidarity by supporting programs that promote these values with the greater public through free photo exhibitions, discussion groups and lectures, and broadcasting of messages.
  2. To financially support the Tolerance Foundation in its educational mission in Canada.
  3. To fund a university chair that will study the main causes of intolerance and exclusion both in Canada socially and within the family, and to measure the impact of intolerance and exclusion, in order to find solutions and methods of intervention.

B) Community
In the community, the M.I.L.K. Foundation Canada plans to offer financial support to organizations or groups that fight exclusion and intolerance in Canada and provide direct social intervention promoting the values of family, love and friendship. More specifically, we support:

  1. Non-profit groups or organizations that promote the basic human values cited above.
  2. Non-profit groups or organizations that work to eliminate intolerance and prejudice against the elderly through public messages (exhibitions, conferences, announcements). These groups or organizations must encourage the Canadian public, employers and other stakeholders to acknowledge the considerable contributions that elderly people have to offer within the family, at work, and socially, especially through mentoring and volunteer work.
  3. Non-profit groups or organizations that work to resolve conflicts and bring an end to violence born of collective manifestations of intolerance, like “taxing” and gansterism, as well as intolerance against wearing religious garments or insignia in schools or in public.

C) Individual

On the individual front, the M.I.L.K. Foundation Canada helps victims of intolerance and those who have suffered major trauma to reintegrate into Canadian society. Our goal is:

  1. To provide financial support for Canadian victims of major trauma caused by exclusion or intolerance. The M.I.L.K. Foundation Canada also supports young Canadians who are deeply affected by a lack of love and family support by giving them the opportunity be paired with an elderly person who agrees to sponsor them.
  2. To fund non-profit groups or organizations that support war and genocide victims and help them integrate into Canadian society.
